Dave Bassett
Bassett started his managerial career in charge at Wimbledon during the early and mid 1980’s and helped the cup gain promotion into the top flight. He was installed as the new manager at Watford in the summer of 1987; however he only stayed as manager at the club for six months. Few days after leaving Watford, he was installed as the new manager at Sheffield United. He took Sheffield United up to the second division at the end of the 1988 -89 season and then earned the club a back to back promotion the following year helping them reach the top flight. After a disappointing start to the 1990 -1991 season, Sheffield United were rock bottom of the top flight at Christmas time, however Bassett performed heroics at the Sheffield United and inspired his club finish off the season in 13th place, making a huge improvement., he went on to spend another four years with the Blades and left the post after seven years in charge at the club. He later on took charge at Crystal Palace, helping the club reach the play off final in his season in charge. He later on had spells in charge of various clubs, including Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Leicester City and Southampton.

Billy McEwan
After enjoying a successful playing career with Chesterfield and Mansfield Town, McEwan was installed as manager of Sheffield United in the year 1986 and helped the Blades finish the 1986 – 1987 season off in ninth place. After two years in charge at Sheffield United, he went on to manage Rotherham for three years between 1988 and 1991, guiding the club to the fourth division championship in the 1988 -89 season. He later on had spells in charge at Darlington, Derby County and York City.

Adrian Heath
Heath was a key member of the Everton championship winning side of the 1980’s. His first managerial role was being in charge at Sheffield United, after a run of fairly impressive results in the first division, he went through a few matches of failing to win and he left the post after Sheffield United suffered defeat against Port Vale. He has also been manager of Burnley and is currently assistant manager to Micky Adams at Coventry City.

Neil Warnock
Warnock started his successful managerial career in charge at Scarborough, after a great spell in charge at the new football league club, he took up the vacant position at Notts County and helped the club gain promotion from the third division into the top flight. He left the post in charge at Notts County and then went on to enjoy spells in charge at Torquay United, Huddersfield Town, Plymouth Argyle and Oldham Athletic. Warnock was installed as the new manager of Sheffield United in the middle of the 1999 – 2000 campaign and helped the club avoid relegation. He took United to the play offs on three occasions and helped the Blades reach the semi finals of the FA Cup twice. He inspired Sheffield United to gain automatic promotion into the premiership at the end of the 2005 -06 season. He is a popular and well respected figure in the game.

Harry Haslam
Harry Haslam managed various club prior his managerial reign at Bramall Lane. He was in charge of Eastbourne United, Tonbridge and Luton Town before taking up the post as gaffer of Sheffield United in the year 1978. He spent three years in charge at Sheffield United, leaving the post in the year 1981. He is the man that introduced the future England super star, Malcolm Macdonald in to the football world.
