Joe Shaw

Joe Shaw was a small, skilful defender who calmly marshalled the heart of the Blades defence in a record 629 league matches and was very much part of the Sheffield United team that won promotion to the first division in 1961. Shaw finally retired in the year 1966, leaving Bramall Lane supporters to wonder why he never won a single cap for England. He is a true legend at Sheffield United football club.

Michael ‘Mick’ Jones

Jones commenced his career playing for Sheffield United in 1962; he was prolific in front of goal during his time with the Blades, scoring 63 goals in under 150 appearances at the club. His great performance sin Sheffield also earned him a call up to the England side. He joined Leeds United in 1967 for a fee worth £100,000. He helped Leeds win the Fairrs Cup during his debut season at the club and later on won the league title with Leeds united. His finest season with Sheffield United was the 1965-66 campaign as he scored 22 goals during that season.
